8/10 Weightloss Wednesday: Undoing a Cheat Day!

8/10 Weightloss Wednesday: Undoing a Cheat Day!

It’s Weightloss Wednesday!  After 2 consecutive weeks of setbacks and plateauing I have broken through!  As of this morning I am 245.9 lbs which means I have lost 154.1 lbs total and 54.1 lbs so far this year.  It feels so good to start seeing those numbers start trending down again.

The exercise part of my day is going well also.  Last night I finished week 2 of C25K and am actually getting to the point where I could see myself perhaps being able to jog for longer distances.  Wouldn’t that be cool!  Although I have to say that every time I actually start running, I am keenly aware of how poorly trained I am at running.  I know there is a proper form I should be using to minimize impact and injuries but I have no idea what that is.  I’ve reached out to a few people to see if maybe I can get some advice and if I hear back from anyone, I’ll let you guys know.

I am also biking on the days I’m not running and starting the day off with a few deep knee bends to stretch out my hips (which are still incredibly tight for some reason, I probably need to go to more aggressive form of stretching or Yoga or something) and a few pushups.  I feel like I should probably invest in a Kettle Bell like this one or something else heavy to do a little more strength training but since I don’t know what I’m doing, I don’t know what to do.

On the food front, everything is great.  I’m eating tons of fresh veggies and plenty of meat and (most importantly, I think) nothing after dinner.  I think that late-night snacking was really sabotaging a lot of what I am trying to do.  I’ve been having fun experimenting with new recipes. (including the keto friendly sloppy joe recipe I put up this week.)  Dian has requested that for lunch every day this week but I think she just likes the fact that she can eat a sandwich again. 🙂

All in all, everything is good and I’ve finally undone the damage from my cheat day a week and a half ago.  Good grief that was a dumb idea.  I think I am back on track to meet my goal of being under 240 at the end of August so it’s full steam ahead toward that goal!

8/3 Weightloss Wednesday: Setting August Goals!

8/3 Weightloss Wednesday: Setting August Goals!

It’s time for a Weightloss Wednesday!  As of this morning I am at 248.1 lbs which means I am EXACTLY the same weight I was last Wednesday and I know exactly why.  This weekend Dian and I went to go see a movie with some special press passes we were given that came with free food.  (Bad Moms was the movie, feel free to skip it.)  Well the choices were about 5 different kinds of carbs so I figured, what the heck, one cheat meal isn’t going to kill me.  I was wrong of course, one cheat meal will pretty much erase a week’s worth or weight loss for me.  I’m just too insulin resistant to ever eat a french fry again if I want to get this weight off.

So let’s talk about August and set some goals

I want to be under 240 lbs

I’m about 8 lbs away from this and I’m averaging about 2 lbs lost a week so I think this is doable.  I just want that number to keep going down and get that magic number 1 at the beginning of the scale.  Can you imagine? Me being under 200 lbs?  I’m still a little shocked that I’ve gotten even this close.

I want my BP to be around 140/100

This blood pressure problem of mine is continuing to worry me.  While its gotten a ton better, it’s still not where I want it to be.  The frustrating thing is it seems like nothing I do really moves the needle on this too much.  Every time I feel like I make progress and get it lower, it seems to want to spike back up.  I stopped doing that yoga in the morning because…well, I don’t know why I stopped.  Perhaps that would help lower my stress levels and that will help with the BP.  I probably also need to get a Magnesium supplement because the Epsom salt baths seemed to help.

Continue with C25K

I didn’t realize this until yesterday but you are only supposed to run on the C25K program 3 times a week.  I was going everyday and I couldn’t figure out why I was already in week 2.  So I’m going to back off a bit and maybe to my bike riding on the off days.  I just wish it wasn’t a million degrees all day long like it is now.  I’d also like to do a little weight training but I don’t have weights.  I’m thinking of maybe starting off with a Kettle bell like this one because I think I do most of the weight training I want to do with that.

I think those are the things I want to focus on for this month.  Please remember to subscribe to my daily email to never miss a post.  Thanks!

7/27 Weightloss Wednesday: Major Milestone Reached!

Weightloss Wednesday Miletone

It’s Weightloss Wednesday!  So this has been an eventful week in terms of my overall health and weight loss but all good things.  First of all, the big announcement is that for the first time on a Weightloss Wednesday, I am under 250 lbs!  Cue the fireworks!  As of this morning I am 248.1 lbs which means I have lost just shy of 52 lbs this year and 152 lbs over all.  That’s so amazing!

I am also about a week into an Intermittent Fasting protocol I decided to experiment after reading Dr Fung’s book, The Obesity Code.  IF is where you pick a 6-8 hour window in the day and only eat during that window so for me it’s lunch at 2 and dinner before 8 and that’s it.  What he was saying in the book lined up pretty closely to a lot of the other things I had read about IF and he has used it to great effect on obese patients, curing Type II Diabetes and lowering their blood markers using that along with a LCHF or Ketogenic diet.  I think I probably owe the IF for getting me over the hump and getting the needle on the scale moving in the right direction.  I plan on continuing with this through the end of the month and seeing what happens.

So let’s talk about exercise.  In celebration of being under 250 lbs for the first time in my adult life, I decided to up my exercise game a bit.  Last week I shared how my bike was finally back on the road thanks to the wonderful women in the 28 Day Challenge room blessing me with what I needed from my Amazon wishlist.  Well this week someone gave me a decent pair of running shoes (So badly needed, Thanks Sharon!) so I took that as a sign that it might be time to start doing dome light running.  My plan right now is to download the Couch to 5K app and see what happens.  I’m not going to lie, the thought of running both terrifies and excites me at the same time.  Also, I’ve been doing 10 deep knee squats and 10 pushups every morning to do something a little less aerobic with my body.

In other news, this is the week I am launching my new podcast so look for that on Fridays going forward.  I’m really excited about sharing that with you guys as podcasts were a key factor in me getting healthy and losing weight.

Thanks for taking this journey with me so far!  Please subscribe to the YouTube channel to never miss a video.  Thanks!
