2/16 Weightloss Wednesday: My Insulin Resistance Has Diminished!

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  I know it’s actually Thursday but life has been crazy lately and I seem to be a day late and a dollar short on everything.  Such is life I guess.  As of this morning I am at 217.8 lbs which means I am 182.2 lbs down from my heaviest and about a pound lighter than last week.

I am getting to the point where when I lie down my belly actually feels flat and lays lower than my rib cage which has never really been the case before.  It’s weird to be able to see bones in my chest and to actually have a neck.

I decided to test something a little earlier this week and ate a hamburger complete with the bun just to see what would happen.  In the past, this would totally wreck my entire week and I’d gain about 5 lbs but this time?  Not so much.  I had a little spike the next day but I was right back to losing weight 2 days later and ended up a pound down for the week.  What does this mean?  Well I think the main thing I can take from this is that my Insulin Resistance seems to have diminished somewhat.  I am by no means going to add a bunch of carbs back in my diet but it is nice to know that a single piece of bread no longer dooms me to a week of having to totally reset my ketosis and struggle just to get back to zero.

So all in all, a great week and I’m pretty happy with what I’m seeing right now.

2/8 Weightloss Wednesday: Feeling Great!

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  It’s been a pretty good week as I’m at 219 lbs as of this morning.  After losing almost 10 lbs in January, it appears I’m at a small plateau/maintenance phase which is totally fine.  I think I’ve finally gotten the hang of not totally freaking out when I go 2 weeks at the same weight.  Being at 219 means I have lost 181 lbs total and about 11 lbs so far this year and it also means I have just a smidge over 19 lbs to go before that scale starts with a 1.  I am so looking forward to that!

On the exercise front, I decided I needed to get back to doing something to grow muscle.  I really liked the way I looked when I was able to go to the gym 3 times a week but now that I’ve had to take a night job it is almost impossible to find the time to be able to do that.  I decided to download 2 apps that set up goals for 100 pushups and 200 squats so I can at least have some kind of structure and goals to what I’m doing.  I also need to get back to where I am stretching everyday because I can feel my hips begin to tighten up again and I remember how susceptible I was to injury the last time I felt like that.

As far as diet goes, I’m finding it very easy to fall into a rhythm of Intermittent Fasting because I don’t like to eat at work so I’ve got a long stretch of time between work and sleep that I just don’t eat.  Some days I have a small breakfast at about 3 PM and then dinner at 7 and other days dinner is my only meal of the day and I might eat some nuts or something in the middle of my shift at work.  The main thing is that I eat when I am hungry but I rarely get hungry anymore which is really nice.

All in all, every thing is good.  I feel strong and healthy and am looking forward to the next phase of weight loss where I can get below 210 and then on my way to 200.  Stay tuned!

1/26 Weightloss Wednesday: Another Week of Weight Loss!

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  I’m a day late because I was sick yesterday and had no voice.  Good news though as I am down to 222.6 lbs which means I have lost 177.4 lbs and about 2 lbs since last week.  This also means that I am maybe a week or 2 away from finally being under 220.  I can’t wait to cross that line!

Other than that, I don’t have much else to report.  I’ve gotten back to doing light exercises every day but have trouble finding the time to do much else.  Adding another fulltime job to my life has eaten up all my free time but thankfully it hasn’t derailed my weight loss.

1/18 Weightloss Wednesday: Over 175 Lbs Down!

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  I tell you what, the closer I get to my goals, the funner these WLW’s become to do!  As of this morning I’m at 224.8 which means I have lost 175.2 from my heaviest and 5.2 lbs since we started the 28 Day Challenge on January 2nd.  I am amazed everyday at how well a ketogenic diet works for weight loss, it is absolutely amazing!  In fact,  my wife remarked last night that it looked like I was melting away.  So cool!

In other news, I have been using Intermittent Fasting lately, not really out of a desire to use it to lose weight but more of a time saving measure.  Now that I have a night job on top of this blog and my other one, it’s getting more difficult to find the time to do all the things I need to do and being able to skip a meal without it really bothering me is helping me find the time to do everything I need to do.  Skipping meals is definitely NOT something the old 400 lb me could have comfortable done but it still shocks me how easy it is to go 16 hours on just water, even while working a full shift doing heavy labor.

Everything else is going well and I am getting leaner every day.  I love this way of life!

1/11 Weightloss Wednesday: 2 Pounds Closer To My Goal!

It’s time for a Weightloss Wednesday!  As of this morning I am at 227.4 lbs which means I am 172.6 lbs down!  It also means I have lost about a pound and a half in the last week which is awesome.  It also means that I am creeping ever closer to my next goal of 220.  It’s so close!

Other than the weight loss, there is almost nothing else to talk about.  I have been going strong with the ketogenic diet and someone in the 28 Day Challenge group is sending me their Ketonix that they don’t need anymore (thanks Sharon!) so soon I’ll be able to actually see my ketone levels which will be pretty cool.

As for exercise, I’ve REALLY been slacking off and only walking my dog about 2 miles a day.  I can feel the old tightness that used to be in my hips before I started stretching everyday begin to creep back in and I’m starting to do that thing where I walk like an old man for the first few steps after I get out of a chair.  I really need to get back to where I’m at least doing some squats everyday to loosen up my hips.

That’s pretty much it!  Life is good and I am feeling good.
