6/7 Weightloss Wednesday: I’m Back!

It’s Weightloss Wednesday!   It’s been a while since I did one of these.  Not because I am gaining weight or anything but because I took a month to get the 28 day ketogenic meal plans and training up and running.  Which, by the way, is up and running and people are loving the hands on training!  You should sign up today!

As for me, on the last WLW I was at 215.6, this morning I was at 207.4 lbs.   Holy cow!  I am so close to being under 200 lbs!    I am so freaking close to being under 200 lbs that it is a bit frustrating to be sitting within spitting distance of the promised land but just a bit short.  It’s going to happen though, just going to keep on keeping on until I get there.

As for exercise, I had been doing the kettle bell exercises and was really enjoying the changes I was seeing in my body.  However, about 3 weeks ago I pulled a muscle in my lower back and shut down all exercise to give it a chance to recover.  I am good now but I haven’t gotten back to the program because I got lazy and doing the 28 Day Challenge stuff eats up more time than you would think.

It is important here to note that once again I pulled a muscle while exercising because I stopped stretching.  I’m not sure how many times I will have to learn this lesson but I just can’t do any kind of repetitive exercise without a comprehensive stretching program first.  I’m just too tight everywhere to be able to expect something to not give when I stress it.

All in all, everything is good.  Things are moving in the right direction, I just need to get where I’m heading sooner rather than later.   Or later.  I don’t care as long as I get there.

5/3 Weightloss Wednesday: There’s More to Weight Loss Than Food

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  This has been an interesting week but before we get into that, here are the numbers.  I am at 214.6 lbs which means I have lost 185.4 lbs so far but it also means I have gained about 5 lbs in the last few weeks.  The good news is, I think I figured out the issue.

I talked last week about how hungry I had been and how crazy my appetite was getting.  It was like I had gone back to the old me where I had to eat every few hours to be satisfied.  Well, what I didn’t talk about was the other thing that was going on in my life because I didn’t realize the relevance.  I have talked about how my Dad passed away a few weeks and how tragic it was because his death from a stroke was the final act of a body that was just broken down over a lifetime of smoking, eating too much, drug abuse and just generally not taking care of himself at all.

His wishes were to be cremated and because it all happened so fast, I wasn’t able to see him before he was gone.  Last weekend we put together a little memorial for him at my Mom’s house and as that date got nearer, I found myself feeling more and more anxious about it.  I’m not totally sure what was going on but looking back I realized that one of the things I wanted to eat was Cream of Wheat and the only time I’ve ever had that was when my Dad cooked it for me growing up.  Looking back, it all seems pretty obvious.

So once the memorial was done, everything went back to normal.  I was able to get back to the Intermittent Fasting I was doing and any cravings for carbs have disappeared and I have actually lost weight since then.  At one point last week I had gotten all the way up to 220 lbs so I’m moving in the right direction again.

4/26 Weightloss Wednesday: Yikes! A Step Backwards!

It’s Weightloss Wednesday!  This has been a weird week.  After finally reaching my goal of 210 last week, I have done nothing but gain weight this week.  Looking at the app that tracks my weight, it has been a all over the map.  At one point I was as high as 220 and this morning I was at 215.6 lbs.  Like I said, it’s been a weird week.

The main thing that has changed is I have just been ravenously hungry this week.  I have eaten 3 very large meals most days this week and even a few desserts.  While it has all been ketogenic…mostly, it has been surprising how much I have eaten.  Just crazy hungry and after almost 3 years of feeling little to no hunger, it’s been an odd experience.  I don’t really know what has been happening but since my policy has always been to eat whenever I am hungry, I’ve just been going with it.

In other news, this is week 5 of working with my kettlebells.  It has been nice and I’m wondering if it’s been a reason for the hunger but I’ve exercised before and not felt hungry so I’m not entirely sure.

Eh, whatever.  It’s all good I guess.  I just need to get back to where I am losing weight.
