4/12 Weightloss Wednesday: Another Step Closer!

4/12 Weightloss Wednesday: Another Step Closer!

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  As of this morning I’m at 210.8 lbs which means I’ve lost 189.2 lbs so far.  I’m SO CLOSE to my next goal of 210.  In fact I was a little disappointed to come so close and not quite get there.  Oh well, at least the weight is coming off no matter how slowly.

I started week 3 of my kettlebell exercises today.  I’m interested in seeing what happens as I continue down this road.  The good news is that it longer causes the lower back tightness I felt in the first 2 weeks.  In fact I’m feeling pretty good except for the pesky tightness I feel in my hips because I spent the first 40 years of my life very sedentary.  Seems like no matter how I stretch out or try to squat, I still feel like nothing is really “loose” in there.  I usually feel it after I’ve been seated for a while and then try to walk.  It’s like I can’t sand fully upright until after a half dozen steps or so.

As far as what I’m eating, I am still using Intermittent Fasting on the days I work.  It still amazes me how I long I can go without food while in ketosis.  Then of course I stay in ketosis with a high fat, low carb diet.  Once I knock out the 210 milestone, I’m ready for the march to 200!

4/5 Weightloss Wednesday: Losing Weight at a Snail’s Pace

4/5 Weightloss Wednesday: Losing Weight at a Snail’s Pace

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  And yes I know that this is going up on Thursday but sometimes life is crazy.  This week we are down to 211.8 lbs which means I am down 188.2 lbs.  Holy cow it is taking FOREVER to get these last 15 lbs off.  It’s like it knows how close I am to the end and just wants to dr-a-a-a-a-a-g it out.  I guess as long as it continues to come off, I don’t really care how long it takes but I sure would like to hit that 210 mark so I can focus on the final run to 200.

As for my meals, the intermittent fasting I’m doing is going well.  On my work days I usually only eat one meal a day and a little sugar free dessert just before my shift starts.  Although I’ve been considering cutting the dessert to see if that speeds things up.

As for exercise, I’m in the second week of doing the Swing Lean program with my 30 lb kettlebell.  I gotta say, it works.  I haven’t been doing it long enough to see any physical changes but just based on how sore I am after my workouts, I’d say I’ll have the upper legs and lower back of an Adonis in a few months.  Of course it will be hidden under a bunch of loose skin so who knows if anyone will ever see it.

So everything is going according to plan.  How is it going with you?  Let me know in the comments!

3/29 Weightloss Wednesday: Another Step Closer To My Goal!

3/29 Weightloss Wednesday: Another Step Closer To My Goal!

Here is this week’s Weightloss Wednesday!  It’s been an interesting week as my weight has been up and down but as of this morning I’m at 212 which I will certainly take.  This means I have lost 188 lbs so far and I’m that much closer to my goal of being under 200 lbs.  I’m ready for that to happen!

I also got a kettlebell this weekend and started kettlebell workouts.  And by started I mean I did exactly 1.  I really didn’t know what to expect and while I expected to work out my legs and shoulders, I didn’t expect what it would do to my back.  Holy cow!  I’ve spent the last 3 days unable to bend at the waist.  I’ve probably taken more aspirin this week than in the last year.

However, now that the initial pain has faded, I’m excited about the prospect of starting back up tomorrow.  I really want to see what kettlebell exercises can do for me and how it can change the shape of my body.  Especially since, with almost 200 lbs gone, I look like a sack of potatoes left out in the sun too long with my shirt off.  I really need a little muscle definition in my arms, chest and back to see if I can fill out some of this loose skin.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with how things are going.  How are you doing this week?  Let me know in the comments!

3/22 Weightloss Wednesday: Your Health Affects More Than Just You!

3/22 Weightloss Wednesday: Your Health Affects More Than Just You!

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  It’s been a good week as I am down to 214, which means I have lost 186 lbs.  Playing with IF has really allowed me to not only get under 215 but stabilize there.  I figure I’m about 2 weeks away from being under 210, then it’s on to 200!

After last week’s podcast interview with Tracy Reifkind, I have decided to take her SwingLean course and add Kettlebell swings to my workouts.  In fact, I think I’m going to stop doing everything else and just do kettlebell swings for a few months and see what happens.  I just need to get my hands on a kettlebell to get started.

Those of you in the 28 Day Challenge room know that this has been a challenging week for me as my father passed away this weekend.  I loved my father but he reminded me how vitally important it is to take control over your health.  He had the same high blood pressure that I have but never did anything to handle it.  He had a stroke on Friday that incapacitated the left side of his body, followed by a blood clot that traveled to his brain on Saturday.  It all happened so fast I wasn’t able to see him before he died and since his desire was to be cremated immediately, I’ll never see him again.  People, your health is no joke.  Lose the weight, get rid of the T2D, lower the BP, do what you need to do to fix yourself.  Your health affects more than just you.

3/16 Weightloss Wednesday: Time For a New Pair of Pants!

3/16 Weightloss Wednesday: Time For a New Pair of Pants!

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  This has been an interesting week because after a rather massive weight loss of something like 7 lbs last week, everything leveled off and I stabilized at 215 for almost the entire week.  I think this is a good thing because that massive jump I experienced last week was just so bizarre that I think my body wanted to hold on for a bit before continuing to lose.  The good news is that the plateau I was on around 220 is done and now I’m just working on moving from 215 down to 210.  So this means I’m right at 185 lbs lost with my eyes squarely focused on being under 200 lbs by the summer.

An absolutely ridiculous thing happened to me this week that really brought home the changes that have happened in my body.  As I have lost weight, I have been putting off buying new pants until I got under 200 lbs because it just didn’t make sense to me to buy pants that wouldn’t fit for long.  I have just been tightening my belt and going about my business.  Then in the middle of my shift, this happened.

That’s right, the belt broke and I quickly realized the folly of wearing the same pants at 215 lbs that I wore at 300 lbs.  I actually had to buy ribbon and thread it through my beltloops in order to keep my pants up.  So embarrassing to run around work with ribbon on my pants!  The good news is that immediately after work I went up to Walmart and discovered that I had gone from a 44 waist to a 38 which means that for the first time in I don’t know how many decades my waist circumference starts with a 3.  That’s pretty cool!

My wife also went through my jeans drawer and took out all the old jeans to give them away.  It’s pretty amazing that I need to buy a new wardrobe now.  Not that I’m going to do that any time soon but it’s cool to know that I should.

So all in all, another good week and I’m ready to meet my goals!
