The My Sugar Free Journey Podcast – Episode 150: Thom King

In this week’s My Sugar Free Journey Podcast, we are talking to Thom King from Guy Gone Keto.

Thom was nice enough to send me samples of several of his sauces and condiments to try and I wanted to take a few minutes and tell you what I thought about them.  Before I do, I want to also say that he is not a sponsor and these links are not affiliate links.  (Actually the link to his book will be an Amazon affiliate link but other than that, no affiliate links.)  This is just my honest opinions.

First up, the steak sauce.  I have never been a steak sauce fan as I consider it to be something of a sacrilege.  Steak should be eaten with salt and possibly pepper, seared on the outside and very pink in the middle.  However, lately I have been cooking at night and putting my food away to eat in the morning to accommodate my early work schedule.  (I was tired of trying to sleep on a full belly.) So now I’m cooking my steak and then microwaving it in the morning so it is sometimes a little tougher than normal and for whatever reason, steak sauce tastes great with it.  This steak sauce is somewhere between A1 and Heinz 57 in flavor and very good.

The Teriyaki sauce is good but a little too sweet for me, something I have a LOT of trouble with when it comes to these keto friendly sauces that are all the rage right now.  I haven’t eaten sugar in 5 years, eating something that is sweet can be a shock to the tastebuds.  But having said that, I made a chicken and broccoli stirfry and used a little of it with a little soy sauce and it was very good.  It will probably take me more than a year to finish this bottle.  In fact, I should probably check the expiration dates on all these things, I bet I can’t finish any of them in time.

Now the ketchup is A+.  I have been using the Heinz No Sugar Added Ketchup and it is good but kind of bland.  Thom’s ketchup has a little more flavor to it and I love it on my hamburger patties.

I also got a Thai Chili sauce that I didn’t much care for probably because I didn’t really know what to put it on.  I’m not much of a chef, that’s for sure.

All in all, these sauces are very good and you should at least try them out.  They are all available at Guy Gone Keto, so check it out now!
