It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday! As of this morning I am at 238.8 lbs which is pretty much where I stay now.
My plan to put on a lot more muscle seems to be working as yesterday was the first day in a week I didn’t work out. I am seeing the benefits mostly in my arms. In fact I have always been a little self-conscience about how thin my lower arms are so I bought a specific tool that works out my forearms and I gotta tell you, it works. I can do about 5 lbs down and up maybe 10 times and I almost can’t move my hands afterwards.
Today reminds me of how far I’ve come in a special way. My weight loss journey is really keyed to one special person, my beautiful granddaughter, Little Bit. (Not her real name) She wasn’t my first granddaughter (In fact she is grand kid 4 of 5 and grand daughter 2 of 3) but there was just something about the news that she was on her way that pushed me to finally make a change.
After she was born, my son and DIL moved into our extra bedroom for a little while to save money and me and Little Bit pretty much fell in love with each other. She would sit on the counter and eat my avocado with me or watch while I cooked. It was the most special time in my life and many of you that were around here at that time might remember when I would do FaceBook Live videos and she would toddle up and sit on my lap while recording. Geez I love this kid.
I think one of the reasons I was so motivated to change was my relationship with my grandfather. I absolutely adored that man and one of my strongest memories was sitting with him at the kitchen table eating bowls of ice cream after dinner. I was probably 7 or so when he passed away from a heart attack and it profoundly affected me in ways it took me years to realize. I knew I did not want that for Little Bit so I needed to get my life and health in order.
Today is her 4th birthday and it has been such an amazing journey to see her grow up. She is visibly taller every time I see her. I remember her first steps, her first words, how hard she worked at potty training, how she would bring me books to read, we just couldn’t get enough of each other.
All of this to say, I am lucky enough to have these 2 things happen at the same time. A huge motivating factor to get my life right (Little Bit) and the way to do it (Low Carb). It seemed dumb luck at the time to have these things happen all at once but I’m grateful it did.
What motivates you? I would love to hear your story, tell me in the comments below!

I believe motivation three (3) years ago is to live. I was overweight, tired, and full of infections. I wanted to give up and didn’t believe I would see 2018 to see Avengers Infinity War (I’m definitely a Marvel fan). The turning point in my diminishing life was a report on television about Intermittent Fasting. The person at the end of the report stated that “diabetics should NEVER try intermittent fasting.” I’ve known from experience that if someone ever tell a group of people NOT to do something, you probably need to do it. It sparked my interest to research IF. After researching it, I found out about the ketogenic (LCHF) lifestyle and how it would “reverse” diabetes. I’ve tried every blood sugar lowering tool and nothing worked….so what did I have to lose. My goal was to lower my blood sugar, however, in the process I lost over 50 pounds, several inches around my waist, neck, and thighs. The crazy thing about this lifestyle change is that I could go back to the old way I’ve been eating because any attempts to deviate causes me major inflammation in my feet (where I am limping for more than 4-days). I am very in tune with my system. Most balk at the longevity of LCHF, however, it is a change I certainly welcome as I have not gained back any weight I’ve lost for over three years. In the process, my daughter got married which allowed me to get in a 43L tuxedo, which I thought was unbelievable and they welcomed a granddaughter in the world (which I’m grateful that I was able to be around to love).
Love this story! Congrats on your success and love that granddaughter of yours!
