11/23 Weightloss Wednesday: Getting Ready For Thanksgiving!

It’s time for Weightloss Wednesday!  I’m soooooo close to being at my next weight loss goal.  So close in fact that I felt a little disappointed when I stepped on the scale this morning and saw only 230.3 lbs instead of something south of 230, but hey, I’ll take it.  I was hoping to be under that goal by Thanksgiving because I have no intention of losing weight tomorrow but I’m not too upset because this means I am a hair’s breadth away from being 170 lbs lighter than I was.

Thanksgiving plans

I’ve gotten a few questions about what I’m doing for Thanksgiving so I wanted to share that.  First of all, our Thanksgiving will of course be almost entirely keto with a few exceptions.  The big exception will be that I will be using Splenda brown sugar to make a glaze that goes over the ham.  Now, you might say (as I did last year) “Splenda is a sugar substitute so surely the Splenda Brown Sugar blend is sugar free!”  Well you would be wrong.  The first 2 ingredients are sugar and molasses with the Splenda only showing up after all the sugar. After doing some research I realized that it is the molasses (which makes brown sugar “brown” and gives its unique flavor) that is almost impossible to find a keto version of so after some soul-searching I decided to throw caution to the wind and have a little sugar with my ham.  I think I can celebrate a smidge after a 170 lb weight loss.

As for everything else, we are strictly keto with lots of high fat green bean casseroles, baked Brussels Sprouts with bacon, lots of cauliflower mashed potatoes and possibly some cauliflower stuffing as well but I think we are undecided on that.  There will also be a turkey to go with the ham which is weird because we are feeding like 8 people and cooking enough for probably 20.  We will be having leftover turkey and ham for days.

As for as desserts go, I will be making both the lemon cheesecake and the keto pumpkin pie from my dessert ebook and possibly a few other goodies as well but I think those are more Dian’s area of expertise.

Something else happened to me just an hour or 2 before I posted this article that I thought was interesting.  I was out walking my dog as normal and someone I never met before that lives in my area stopped me and told me that I was doing an amazing job losing weight.  It was cool to see that the change has been so dramatic that people who don’t even know me are able to see the difference.
